I been thinking...why do you think this site's traffic started dying down? For me it has the be the booru's discord server. I feel like the discord is what led to this site dying because there isn't drama there and no mass downnvotes.

It wasn't the discord server per say, it was more of the mass of trolls and haters, which caused the state of the site.
And with the downvoter bots, we have a final troll, which tries to down vote all the good pictures.

I can tell you, that if the trolls stayed away, our booru wouldn't have regressed this much with all those limitations now in place.

For me, it was the captcha for uploads,
If we had a way to allow accounts or levels to upload without it,
I feel the posts wouldn't be as slow

I've never used discord, and I never will.

You should use it

Should be no surprise it's because of the massive downvotes and trolls destroying it.

A long time ago, the admin did some oopsie to a troll which cause a mass deletion of images and raiding of the forums. There's no backup (uploaded rejects repeated images unless you find a workaround) to get the deleted images back which causes people to quit including myself.

And it's mostly the male feet pics being downvoted I think.

Plus, I swear the booru project as a whole is definitely seeing its final days. It didn't stop some of them like rule34xxx and safebooru because they have bots uploading from e621 and danbooru/gelbooru.

Heck, I quit xbooru because it's a flat out rule34xx clone now and yet they still delete poor quality art like people still visit the site.

There are two reasons between this place having been dying.

The first is that a mass deletion accident occurred a couple of years ago. Some guy got ahold of a staffer's password, hijacked their account and used it to delete a shit-ton of pics. Since Booru's system is also such that you can't upload an identical pic of one's that's been deleted, it also made it much harder to restore what had been lost. I think we lost over a hundred pics and many still haven't been restored.

After that, I saw a lot less activity here.

The second was that some guy created a bot that he used to downvote a lot of pics; 'twas about a year ago, I think. The bot downvoted a lot of pictures down to at least -3, though usually around -7. This probably turned a lot of uploaders off because why keep uploading stuff if it's just gonna get downvoted and hidden?

Because of this, staff had to block new user registration, so no new users could join (dunno of it's up again). This means that we keep losing people while no new ones are coming to replace them.

So yeah, like Purple said: trolls and bots are what's destroying it.

Lately though, it seems that activity has been picking up again, so maybe it's not dying anymore.
